SALT RIVER CANYON
Address US Hwy 60 goes
through Tonto National Forest and down into a very scenic part of this canyon.
Overlooks provide excellent views and the bridge at the bottom of the canyon is a
very worthwhile stop. The Salt River forms much of the boundary between the
Fort Apache and the San Carlos Indian Reservations, and is a very popular location for rafting. Travel off-highway on Indian land requires a
permit which is available at the Salt River Canyon Inn at the bridge.
