Breath-taking views,
pictographs, and jeep and horseback tours into the canyon await the visitor at Canyon de
Chelly (pronounced de-SHAY). Jeep and horse rentals are available at Thunderbird
Lodge. Hiking on trails into the canyon requires a Park Service permit and an
authorized Navajo guide except for the White House Ruins Trail. Facilities include
hiking, camping and picnicking. Backcountry camping is allowed, but requires a
permit and guide.
