APACHE LAKE
The second of the large Salt River lakes, this
lake is about 35 miles northeast of Apache
Junction on AZ Hwy 88, known as the Apache
Trail. Fishing, boating, and water skiing
are prominent recreations. The marina has
full services, launch facilities, a restaurant,
and there is a small motel next to it. |

spectacular and scenic route that takes you from
Apache Junction past Canyon Lake and Apache Lake
to Theodore Roosevelt Lake, its official
designation is AZ Hwy 88. |

CANYON LAKE
Located
about 15 miles northeast of Apache Junction on
Hwy 88, the Apache Trail. It is the third
of the large Salt River lakes, and is in the
Tonto National Forest. The lake has
several campgrounds around it, some only
accessible by boat. Fishing, boating, and
water skiing are popular here. The Canyon
Lake Marina has complete services available,
including boat rentals, docks and storage.
The boat launch can accommodate several trailers
at a time, and there is plenty of parking.
The restaurant on the lake serves full meals and
drinks and provides an excellent view while you
eat. The Dolly Steamboat docks here, and
offers dinner cruises and nature tours on
weekends all year. |
THEODORE
ROOSEVELT LAKE
The first and largest of all the Salt River
lakes, Roosevelt Lake is about 46 miles
northeast of Apache Junction by AZ Hwy 88, the
Apache Trail, or about 72 miles by the way of
Superior and Miami on US Hwy 60. Located
in the Tonto National Forest, there are several
campgrounds at and around the lake. The
marina has full services, with a restaurant and
motel nearby, so you can enjoy fishing and
boating year-around. |

SAGUARO LAKE
Saguaro is the last of the four large Salt River
lakes and is about 14 miles east of Fountain
Hills by way of the Beeline Highway, AZ Hwy
87. Like the others, it has a full-service
marina and several campgrounds around it, and
you can go fishing, boating, and water skiing
here. |
